There were 782 homes sold in September. This is up 15.9% from September 2011, when 675 homes were sold. Just 547 during September 2010.
These numbers are for Jefferson County single-family and condos only, not multi-family properties.
Sales are continuing the trend of improvement during the course of this year. As we watch these number move higher, it’s natural to compare this data with other high points in this sample, namely 2007, where 786 homes were sold.
As prices continue to rebound, which is great news for home sellers, house hunters will need to adjust their thinking. Snapping up a “great deal” is becoming more and more difficult. Inventory is decreasing, which further moves the pendulum in favor of home sellers.
My advice for home buyers (especially renters) is to move quickly, while mortgage rates are still low and home prices are still relatively low.
