While the concept is worthwhile and innovative, their marketing efforts (thus far) have been a bit underwhelming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"610\" src=\"https:\/\/trepryor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/07\/cop_lg.gif\" alt=\"City of Parks: Louisville, Kentucky\" class=\"wp-image-9244\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Louisville is a City of Parks. And they keep growing!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>What began in 2005 has been slowly building towards a vision of what community leaders call &#8220;Louisville&#8217;s Greenprint.&#8221; When I read the news today about <a href=\"http:\/\/gastateparks.org\/BlackRockMountain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">a 300-mile park that stretched from Georgia into our fair state of Kentucky<\/a>, I thought it must have something to do with this &#8216;City of Parks&#8217; effort. Turns out I was wrong and that green is apparently the new black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those of you who haven&#8217;t heard, here are some of the efforts underway to make Louisville a model for other park-interested cities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Floyds Fork Greenway Project &#8211; an effort led by 21st Century Parks to create a new system of parks, trails, and open spaces along Floyds Fork, from Shelbyville Road to Bardstown Road.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expansion of parkland in Jefferson Memorial Forest and Southwest Louisville Metro.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A 100-mile paved metro loop trail around Louisville Metro&#8217;s perimeter will tie together Louisville&#8217;s diverse parks and neighborhoods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An unprecedented level of capital investment to improve existing parks.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>These efforts should go a long way to set Louisville apart from surrounding states in green space and outdoor activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Before I delved into real estate, I hadn&#8217;t yet heard of Louisville called a City of Parks.
