The best Louisville dog parks offer your dog mental stimulation, interesting smells, exercise, and opportunities to socialize in a safe, controlled environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best Louisville Dog Parks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There’s an effort under to call Louisville “A City of Parks.”<\/a> It’s getting better every year. But that doesn’t mean every park has amenities for our four-legged friends. Visit these parks first!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Sawyer Dog Park<\/a> <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

First on our list of best Louisville dog parks is this one. Your furry family members will love the six-acre set-up at Sawyer Dog Park. Large dogs and small dogs have separate off-leash play areas. Everyone has a nice rest spot for when you need a break. If you and your pup are feeling more adventurous, check out the wooded trails!. Then finish up with a long drink from one of the plentiful buckets of water. There are plenty of spare waste bags to make it easy to clean up after your pet and a wash station for muddy paws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Champion\u2019s Run Dog Park<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Champions Run is a newer dog park covering just over 2\u00bd acres of a former golf course. It has one side for small dogs and a separate area for all dogs. Drinking water is available for both furry and human visitors, and waste bags and disposal pails are available. If you\u2019re feeling a bit tired, check out the comfortable benches and shaded pavilions for a relaxing break.

While Champions Run is slightly smaller than some of the other Louisville dog parks, it tends to be quieter and less busy. This is a good option for those who prefer a less crowded park for their outings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Cochran Hill Dog Park<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Whether you have big or little dogs, Cochran Hill Dog Park has a place for your friendly fur buds to get wild. Cochran Hill has two full acres of space! There’s a double off-leash dog run with separate areas for big and little dogs with plenty of space to get those sniffs and runs in. If you forgot to bring a toy, don\u2019t worry: There will be plenty provided for your pup to use, including balls, tug-of-war ropes, and others.

As always, it\u2019s important to be a good dog park citizen and clean up after your furry friends. It’s also important to remember to keep interactions civil. On damp days, things can get a little muddy, but no worries, because Cochran Hill offers a hose to clean off those toes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Morton Avenue Dog Park<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re looking for a free, no-membership-required dog park, you can\u2019t do much better than the Morton Avenue Dog Park. This spacious, off-leash dog park includes lots of toys for dogs to share and waste bags if you forgot yours or just need a spare. The fenced-in wood-chipped ground minimizes mud mess, and water is available for thirsty pups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dog Park Etiquette<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before heading out to any Louisville dog park, it\u2019s important to remember a few rules. Many Louisville dog parks do require membership or permits<\/a>, so review the rules first to find out what you need to do before your visit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dog visitors need to be fully vaccinated and current on those vaccinations for their own and other dogs\u2019 safety.
