One of the most searched-for themes on all of the Internet is &#8220;How do I become a successful&#8230;&#8221; and then different highly-searched things follow the words:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>blogger<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>student<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>author<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>real estate agent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"764\" height=\"510\" src=\"https:\/\/trepryor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/successful_real_estate_agen.jpg\" alt=\"Screen shot of Google results for search how to become a successful real estate agent\" class=\"wp-image-9773\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trepryor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/successful_real_estate_agen.jpg 764w, https:\/\/trepryor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/successful_real_estate_agen-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 764px) 100vw, 764px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">It looks like there are a lot of people who want to know &#8220;how to become a successful real estate agent.&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s obvious that people are searching. What&#8217;s\u00a0<em>not<\/em>\u00a0clear is how to achieve it. With more than 30,400,00 Google results to this query, that&#8217;s an ocean freighter-sized load to search through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">Before we get to any <\/span><strong style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">recommended best practices<\/strong><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">, it&#8217;s important to take a step back and analyze <\/span><em style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">which goals<\/em><span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\"> you can choose from in the crazy, up-and-down world of real estate.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After considering the choices, it might surprise you to learn which one that I put at the <strong>top of the list<\/strong> for successful agents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It&#8217;s not setting goals. It&#8217;s setting the <em>right<\/em> goals.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s brainstorm! When you think about successful real estate agents, what comes to your mind?<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"151\" src=\"https:\/\/trepryor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/mercedes_e550.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of a Mercedes E550\" class=\"wp-image-9772\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">This Mercedes certainly looks like the kind of car a successful person would drive.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do you think about having your face on billboards across the city? Maybe a glossy ad on the back cover of your favorite local magazine?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do you picture yourself behind the wheel of a new Mercedes E550? Oh wow, they are beautiful.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Does the image of you attending a closing <em>every single business day for a month<\/em> really get your blood pumping?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How about getting that phone call from a celebrity who heard you were the best agent in your city and he&#8217;d like to use you to buy a million-dollar mansion?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These are <em>all<\/em> things that might come to mind when you think of becoming a <strong>successful real estate agent<\/strong>. And to be truthful, they&#8217;re not necessarily <em>wrong<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most people would start by defining success in the world of real estate in terms of <strong>dollars made<\/strong> or <strong>properties sold<\/strong>. Companies like REMAX, Century 21, and others have yearly award banquets to honor their &#8220;most successful agents.&#8221; These are the criteria they use when deciding who to give those brass embossed plaques that we take and\u00a0toss in the storage bin in the basement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I may, I&#8217;d like to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trepryor.com\/blog\/psychology-marketing-real-estate-part-one\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"offer a different&nbsp;goal (opens in a new tab)\">offer a different&nbsp;goal<\/a>.&nbsp;Making the multi-million gross sales club is difficult. My goal is not so hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trying to sell 100 homes in a year is incredibly difficult. But I have a goal that if you set your mind to it, I guarantee you can achieve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Curious? Just a minute more and I&#8217;ll share my secret with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Good Is the Enemy of Best<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you ever heard that saying? Good is the enemy of best. I can hear some of you now&#8230; &#8220;Tre, you&#8217;re not making much sense here.&#8221; Fair enough, let me explain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are times when you do a good job. The client&#8217;s home closed. The funds are out of escrow. The moving trucks have come and gone. And, of course, you received your commission check&#8230; we can&#8217;t forget that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But on your drive home, you may think, &#8220;I could have done a better job.&#8221; And that&#8217;s true! All of us, everyone, can do better. We can move up the rankings from good, to better, to best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, are you ready? Here it is. This is the goal that I think all of us should <strong>rank first<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Be the best real estate agent your client has ever had.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, it&#8217;s not easy. It&#8217;s going to take some hard work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You&#8217;ll need to answer your cellphone at times you&#8217;d really rather not. You may need to show your buyers a couple of homes, you know deep down, they will <em>never<\/em> buy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/trepryor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/top_agents_put_you_first.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of a happy young lady\" class=\"wp-image-9774\" srcset=\"https:\/\/trepryor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/top_agents_put_you_first.jpg 600w, https:\/\/trepryor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/top_agents_put_you_first-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">When your real estate client feels like this, that\u2019s when you\u2019re on the path to true success.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Successful Real Estate Agent Will&#8230;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you really want to know, here are the big four keys points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go the&nbsp;<strong>extra mile<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Always show up with a <strong>smile<\/strong> on your face<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be ready to <strong>serve<\/strong> your clients<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use <strong>every ability<\/strong> in your arsenal.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, you&#8217;ll be winning. I believe that the <i>highest goal<\/i> of the most successful real estate agent is <strong>100% customer satisfaction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, you will not achieve that goal with every client. Sometimes things happen that are beyond your realm of control. That&#8217;s life. Still&#8230; that doesn&#8217;t mean this should cease being your primary goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Want to know how to become a successful real estate agent?
