“You missed it by that much.” Maxwell Smart
Most of the year, home sales in 2015 surpassed the mark set for the same month in the previous year. Only in August did they actually tie. That was until November, for the first time Louisville home sales decreased compared to the previous year.

Could it be that the ultra-low housing inventory in Louisville is finally affecting home sales? I’d say it’s certainly part of it. It could be the biggest reason. But it could also be that after an above-average year, everyone who wanted to purchase their new home has already done so.
Last year, there were actually more homes sold during December, 782 properties, than in November so it’ll be interesting to see if that trend follows suit, because it typically does not.
Overall though, 2015 has been a surprisingly strong year for home sales in Louisville. What will 2016 hold? Make sure to bookmark this site and return for our city’s only monthly, comparative housing reports.
