Top 5 Most Expensive Homes in Louisville Kentucky: 2023 Edition

It’s time for one of my favorite posts of the year! Checking out nice homes is great fun, don’t you agree? So let’s dig in and see which of Louisville’s most expensive homes exchanged hands during 2023. It was a down year for home sales, but I’m sure some of these luxury properties will impress. Let’s begin!

The owners did a great job with their landscaping to provide privacy for all of their backyard activities.

Finding the Properties

Just like I’ve done in the past, this time I gathered every property in Louisville that sold for at least $1,000,000 during the year. Some of these are located in the surrounding counties of Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Bullitt. That’s because a good number of people who live “near” Louisville consider themselves as part of the city.

Most Expensive Homes in Louisville Sold During 2023

Now to the stats! Here are all the luxury homes in Louisville that sold in the past 12 months. I gather this data from the GLAR database. It looks like even though overall sales were down for the year, 19.3% to be exact, there was a slight increase in these million-dollar homes that exchanged hands in 2023. moving from 182 homes up to 190.

This year I took Auction properties out of the mix as they tended to warp the statistics.

As you would expect, the majority of these were Single-Family Homes. Then when we break them out by county we get the following results.

Jefferson County leads the way with the most million-dollar homes sold during 2023.

Just like we saw when I wrote Most Expensive Homes in Louisville Kentucky: 2022 Edition, most of these homes are located in Jefferson County with Oldham County also representing a healthy number of luxury properties. Let’s look at the stats of these amazing properties.

Top 5 Most Expensive Homes in Louisville Kentucky

There’s just a certain fascination with admiring luxury homes, or luxury items in general. It shouldn’t dominate one’s thoughts but can certainly be a target to aim for. Maybe it’s just a certain feature in a home that inspires you. I’ve linked up the listings for each of these so that you can look through the photos. And of course, if I can help you in your real estate journey, I would consider it an honor to serve you.

#5 – 5802 River Road

This estate home was built just after the turn of the century in the Glenview area of Louisville, Kentucky.

Glenview has long been the home of many of Louisville’s most amazing properties. While it was built in 1905 it has been lovingly updated and remodeled over the decades as you can tell from the photos. The main structure along with several out-buildings combine to form more than 13,000 finished square feet. From the elevation photo, it doesn’t appear that large, does it? Resting on 15 acres up the hill from River Road’s flood basin, the property provides extreme privacy and tons of scenic vistas. The property sold in March 2023 for $3.1 million. Make sure to check out the in-ground pool located in its own glass-enclosed building. [Listing Photos]

#4 – 7241 Old Clore Lane

A more recent build, this home displays a high level of craftsmanship throughout.

Located in Prospect, still within Jefferson County, this amazing home built in 1979 has a more traditional layout but with a premium level of finish. The home has 7,788 finished square feet and sits on almost 12 acres. The previous owners remodeled practically every part of this property, updating it throughout and it shows. This home sold for $3.2 million in June. [Listing Photos]

#3 – 1303 Todds Point Road

Not quite as exciting as the others this piece of land with a small home still sold for millions of dollars.

Here you see a single photo of the entrance to a 75-acre parcel in Shelby County. Yes, there’s a home on the property but we don’t get a chance to see it in the listing. Instead, we can surmise that a developer bought the property and is underway with plans to turn it into a nice subdivision. Located just north of Simpsonville it’s a nice location that is sure to see a great deal of development in the coming years. The property sold for $3.3 million in July 2023.

#2 – 5602 Harrods Glen Drive

Photo of 5602 Harrods Glen Dr,
Wow! This home in Harrod’s Glen is certainly impressive.

Harrod’s Glen is no stranger to our list of most expensive homes in Louisville Kentucky. Each year there’s one in our Top 5. What do you think of this beauty? Located right at the entrance to the neighborhood, this mansion boasts 9,842 finished square feet. Built in 2011, it sits on a little bit more than 1 acre but has a great deal there including a gorgeous pool, full tennis court (that also has basketball goals if you’re so inclined), putting green, and covered outdoor bar. You really need to look at the photos to see all of this home’s tremendous features. It sold for $3.4 million in August of last year. [Listing Photos]

#1 – 1150 Conner Station Road

There’s so much character in this property that only a visit would give you the full picture.

Also in Shelby County, our #1 property is a true estate with multiple structures in addition to the main house. Let’s start with the land. There are 92 wooded acres located just south of I64 and Simpsonville. You’ll find a riding track to go along with the horse barn, a guest home next to the in-ground swimming pool, and an apartment located above the free-standing garage. With 8.200 square feet of finished space, including a log cabin room, there’s so much to love! Coming in first on my yearly list, this property sold for $4.3 million just last month in December.
