July Louisville home sales just surpassed the previous year. And we all thought sales would be down after 2016’s record total. So much for our expert projections, right?
During July 2016, there were 1,165 homes sold in Louisville. Not the highest July ever recorded but quite good. Now in 2017, our July home sale total was 1,175 which narrowly surpassed last year’s total. Good enough for a whopping .086% increase. In case you didn’t know, that was sarcasm right there.
So where do we stand year-to-date in 2017? Could it be possible to create a new record this year, even with housing inventory at pitifully low levels? Anything is possible!
From January through July, the 2016 tally was 7,002. That number was the highest on record for that time span. This year, we’re sitting proudly at 7,127! (Get ready for more sarcasm.) That’s a massive 1.79% lead over last year. Well, it’s a lead anyway. It’s also good news for the Louisville real estate market which shouldn’t be performing as well as it is.
Sellers who are on the fence should seriously consider a sale this year, especially if you are planning to downsize.
