We’ve been doing articles about the most expensive homes in Louisville Kentucky for now. Sometimes I publish them here on LHB. Other times I’ll put it on my personal site—TrePryor.com. With the larger-than-average home appreciation realized in the past few years, it’s time for another installment. So let’s get started!
How We Choose the Properties
Just like we’ve done in the past, we collect every home in the Greater Louisville area that sold in the previous year for more than $1,000,000. We also include properties in Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Bullitt counties but those farther away. Often, people living in these surrounding counties still think of themselves as Louisvillians. Stay tuned if you’re looking for that luxury vibe.
Most Expensive Homes in Louisville Sold During 2022
Here we’re going to describe this big batch of million-dollar homes that have sold throughout 2022. And it’s a big group! Per the data from GLAR, 182 homes exchanged hands last year. Now let’s break them down.
Home Type | # Sold |
Single-Family Homes | 171 |
Condominium | 3 |
Farm | 7 |
Auction | 1 |
182 |
As you can see, the bulk of these were Single-Family Homes. Now, let’s separate them by county.
County | # Sold |
Jefferson | 123 |
Oldham | 42 |
Shelby | 15 |
Spencer | 1 |
Bullitt | 1 |
182 |
Given the population dispersion, you would expect Jefferson to have the most, and they do. Oldham County does come in fairly strong with 42 million dollar homes sold.
Now we’re going to look at the particulars of these homes in various ways.

Top 5 Most Expensive Homes in Louisville Kentucky
Now let’s look at the homes that topped our list for the year. Counting them down.
#5 – 7602 Harrods Ridge Drive
Harrods Glen is the home of many of Louisville’s most expensive homes. And this new is no exception with two of our top five located here. This one is a stately mansion boasting more than 12,000 finished square feet. And we’re talking about high-end finishes throughout. This home sold for $3.55m in September. There’s a great deal to see, including lots of UofL mentions throughout so make sure to check out this home’s pics. [Listing Photos]
#4 – 2300 Homewood Drive
This home in Anchorage has the look of a much older structure but it was actually built in 2006. There are so many eye-catching elements just to the home’s exterior. And that’s before you enter and see even more. Resting on a generous 5.4-acre lot in desirable Anchorage, this home sold quickly for just over $3.55m. It even has a 4-stall barn with a tack room. [The photos for this property have been removed.]
#3 – 5705 Harrods Glen Drive
This incredible home is also in Harrods Glen like #5 and it’s also over 12,000 finished square feet with amazing finishes everywhere you look. From the exterior architecture to the high-end touches throughout the interior and then you see their outdoor spaces. Wow! There were no corners cut. This property sold for $3.9m in October and I would wager a guess that the new owners are quite pleased with it. [Listing Photos]
#2 – 4600 Stone River Drive
Number two on our list is far more than a mansion, here in Kentucky you’ll also find amazing horse farms. This 235-acre farm in the L’Esprit area of Oldham County sold for $4m last January. These properties are extremely difficult to value given that there are far fewer of them and they comprise many different parts. There’s no house on this property as it’s a working farm but you can see the beauty that’s there. How would you like to go to work at a place like this? [Listing Photos]
#1 – 8501 Wolf Pen Branch Road
The property ranked #1 on our list of most expensive homes in Louisville Kentucky is this one located in Prospect. It was sold by auction for $4.2m in December. I wonder how many people were vying for it? Located on just under 5 acres, it’s almost surrounded by privacy-creating trees and bushes. Built in 2013, this home has five bedrooms, six baths, 2 half baths, and 11,698 square feet of finished space. And I’m sure you’ve seen this poolhouse too! If price is no object, then you too can own a luxury Louisville home like this one as well. [Listing Photos]
