That’s two months straight with disappointing results in terms of real estate activity. Home sales in Jefferson County just haven’t picked up as some experts have predicted. I guess the only solace is that Louisville isn’t the only city experiencing these results and is performing on par.
Similar to both December and January market reports, February saw Jefferson County home sales drop behind 2010. Whereas in those two months, 2011 did best in 2009, during this past month we trailed both previous years in home sales with only 407 houses sold in the month of February.
A spark of light might be what’s happening in Oldham County. Home sales actually surpassed both 2009 and 2010 with 51 homes sold, compared to 40 and 32, respectively. The numbers may not be impressive but the positive gain should be.
It does take more than a single month of improvement to forecast any change in the trend but at least it’s a glimmer of hope for Oldham County real estate.
