Backyard Remodeling Projects to do Before Summer

We all look forward to the summertime. Warmer weather, more time with our families, and the endless possibilities for outdoor activities make the season a favorite! As summer is quickly approaching and many of us are still homebound due to COVID-19, it’s a great time to take on any of these backyard remodeling projects! We’ve outlined a few of our favorites, but the possibilities truly are endless.

Build a Fire Pit

A backyard fire pit is great for hanging out with friends and family or crafting the perfect s’more. This is a fairly simple project to take on at home, as many home stores will have a fire ring that you can purchase as well as posted guides as to how you can use concrete pavers or blocks to craft your own.

The Grill Gazebo

This will certainly help you stand out to the neighbors! A grill gazebo is a fun DIY project that gives you free rein to craft a fun new space to the backyard. These gazebos don’t need to be large, just wide enough to fit the grill. Then, you can add seating, food storage, or even a wine rack!

DIY Your Driveway

Driveways serve both an aesthetic and practical purpose. From a practical standpoint, the driveway should safely handle water runoff and protect the foundation of the home. From an aesthetic standpoint, the driveway is the runway to the home and is part of the first impression that the visitors to your home will make. The easiest DIY driveway is the gravel driveway, as all you have to do is purchase bags and spread the pieces evenly. Plus, gravel comes in a wide variety of colors and sizes so you’ll be able to choose whichever best suits the style of your home.

Make a Rain Garden

A rain garden, or plant pond, is a great way to prevent flooding and looks great as well. All you need to craft your own is a shovel and a level, and this is a project that could bring you a tax break (depending on your local policies). However, tackling it solo might be difficult if you’re not familiar with how to make one. That’s why opting to enlist the expertise of an exterior remodeling company might be just what you’re looking for. They can streamline the process swiftly and beautify your garden effortlessly.

Reinvent your Deck for Entertaining

Summertime is the best time of year to gather with friends and family, and just a few tweaks to your existing deck can make the space even more perfect for entertaining! Crafting an outdoor oasis can be as easy as hanging string lights, adding comfortable seating, and purchasing an outdoor rug.

Where do I start? Well, the hot tub of course, duh. Look at this incredible space!

Outdoor string lights instantly make the space feel more comfortable and inviting. It’s also a great stage to set for gathering with friends. Outdoor rugs can be quite inexpensive and will give the deck a more sophisticated feel and add personality to the space.

A Fresh Paint Job

Summertime brings the heat, and it can be more difficult to paint a home during the summer. Especially hot days can cause the paint to dry and crack before it can be brushed out, so the spring period leading up to summer is the perfect time to freshen up your home’s coat of paint. A fresh coat of paint can also be a great time to consider roof and siding colors, and darker roof colors will attract heat during the summer and can potentially increase your cooling energy bill.

The excitement of the summer will be complemented by any of these great backyard remodeling projects.
